Introducing children to STEM in a fun way

16 children (aged 8-15 years, youngest being 6 years old) attended the very first Devoxx4Kids South Africa event, hosted by Buhake Sindi on 21 April 2018 at Woodlands International College in Boksburg. They had an opportunity to get hands-on to learn how to build a basic website using HTML5, CSS3 and JavaScript (ES8).

Devoxx4Kids is a worldwide initiative that introduces programming, robotics, engineering to children from an early age. This is achieved by organizing events where children can develop computer games, program robots and also have an introduction to electronics. This effort won Duke’s Choice Awards at JavaOne 2013.

Devoxx4Kids South Africa started in 2017 and hosted their very first Devoxx4Kids event on 21 April 2018 teaching young children basic programming. You can find the highlight of the event at the official page. Alternatively, you can view the YouTube video below:
